What this site is
Databricks Cost Lab is a static, education-first site that helps data engineers and FinOps teams estimate company Databricks usage as DBU plus rough cloud VM — the two line items that usually drive the bill. Official and third-party calculators often highlight DBU only; we treat infrastructure as a first-class input so your mental model matches how invoices actually look.
The core product is a free browser calculator at /tools/cost/. It loads illustrative list rates from /data/pricing/rates.json (last updated 2026-09-24). Those rates are for learning and early budgeting conversations — not contract pricing, not committed-use discounts, and not a quote.
